I do everything I can to limit my chemical exposure, so I am very conscious not only of what I choose to put into my body, but what I choose to put onto my body as well. For quite a while I was just using straight up baking soda as my deodorant, but found that it could be irritating, especially during hot weather, so I’ve been experimenting with different recipes. This is the first time I’ve used melaleuca in a recipe, and not sure I’m in love because I don’t love the smell of melaleuca, so I’ll probably use something different in a future batch.

Here’s the recipe I used for this batch:
2 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp Shea butter
1 tbsp baking soda
2 tbsp arrowroot powder
1.5 tbsp bentonite clay
2 drops melaleuca essential oil
2 drops grapefruit essential oil
2 drops geranium essential oil

Directions:
1. In a small pan, melt the coconut oil and Shea butter.
2. Remove from heat, then add remaining ingredients and mix well.
3. Allow to cool and pour into an airtight container. Then next year will solidify in a few hours.
